Singer-Songwriter Comes Home to Wyoming for Album Release: Josh Dorr Unveils Second EP in Gillette with Acoustic Set

November 2, 2017—Wyoming—Wyoming native Josh Dorr is coming home to release his second EP, titled “Sundancer,” in his hometown of Gillette, Wyoming, on Friday, November 17, 2017.

“The reason I want to come back to Gillette to do this release party is simple,” said Dorr. “Wyoming is home and the people of this state have been in my corner since day one. I want to share this project—that’s been more than 12 months in the making—with the people of Wyoming.”

Located in northeast Wyoming, Gillette is home to a rich history, wide-open spaces, diverse landscapes and an array of untold stories—including the story of Josh Dorr.

“Here in Gillette and Campbell County, we’re working hard to showcase our offerings to a local, regional and national audience,” said Mary Silvernell, executive director for the Campbell County Convention & Visitors Bureau. “To be able to work with Josh to tell the stories of Wyoming through his music and to bring him home for a release party is an opportunity we’re delighted to be collaborating on.”

Dorr will perform the songs from his new album, including “I Need A Highway,” which is one of the songs on the album that was strongly influenced by his upbringing in Wyoming.

“The song ‘I Need A Highway’ is one that pulls on my heart every time I perform it,” said Dorr. “It’s about leaving the ones you love behind and even more so, about them understanding and supporting your dreams. I left Wyoming—which was not an easy thing for me to do—to chase my dreams of becoming a singer-songwriter in Nashville. Coming home to Gillette and performing the music that my childhood and life in Wyoming helped me create is something I’m so proud of and excited to do.”

Dorr’s release party will be held at the Gillette College Technical Education Center—located at 3251 South 4-J Road—and will take place from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Friday, November 17. Tickets are $10 per person and include Wyoming-inspired appetizers like mountain man stuffed mushrooms with wild game sausage, smoked rainbow trout dip and buffalo burger sliders, as well as a cash bar. Tickets are available at the Gillette Visitor Center, located at 18110 South Douglas Highway, or at the door the night of the event. They can also be pre-ordered by calling 307.686.0040.

Dorr plans to arrive in Wyoming a few days prior to his release party and will be showcasing some of his favorite places in the northeast corner of the Cowboy State on his Instagram (@JoshDorrMusic), Twitter (@JoshDorr) and Facebook (@JoshDorrMusic) and is encouraging music and Wyoming enthusiasts to follow along as he highlights some of Wyoming’s most special places.
